The end of the scorpions inside the house???!!!
Well, Paul found a good size hole in the stone of our house. A big black scorpion ran into it and he filled it with cement! He also killed another on top of the doorframe in the same area. This is progress. I cleaned up the doors that Paul repaired and painted them in our wonderful verdigris! I am now confident enough to be running around the house barefoot. Wish us luck!
We are off to Firenze tomorrow am and plan to visit the Uffizi and some galleries and take lots of pics of the city. We will camp that night in Florence and head to Assisi on Tuesday, returning home to Abruzzo Tuesday night. It's time for a little break from the house restorations!
Paul and I restoring the old brick floor of our diningroom. We were wearing masks as we used brick acid and a power wire brush (lots of brick dust and old lead paint dust I'm sure). It is looking good but still needs some tender care as well as sealing. Poco a poco as we keep telling our neighbours. We have the best neighbours. Zoe has befriended Mariana next door-she is turning 13. They hung out in a huge group of girls in the town of Guardiagrele Saturday night without us! Mariana's parents are our age and full of life--lots of fun. All our neighbours, in fact all Abruzzese people it seems, have no problem stopping their lives and working hard to understand and communicate with us. What a beautiful place!
